Donjeta Elshani Hetemi is a legal professional, strategist, and human rights advocate with a strong background in law, public administration, policy development, and international engagement. She holds a Law degree from the University of Prishtina and holds a Master's degree in European Integration and Public Administration, while further expanding her expertise in Canadian legislation through studies at Robertson College.

As Director of Strategy & Government Relations, Donjeta plays a critical behind-the-scenes leadership role in advancing the organization's mission and long-term vision. She leads and supports key initiatives involving government relations, policy research, stakeholder engagement, governance, and strategic planning. Her work includes drafting correspondence, conducting policy and legislative research, preparing reports and briefing materials, supporting advocacy initiatives, developing strategic partnerships, and strengthening relationships with government and community stakeholders.

A key part of her role involves developing governance frameworks, policies, and training materials that support organizational excellence and board effectiveness. She contributes to the creation of governance resources, orientation materials, operational guidelines, and leadership training tools that help strengthen accountability, compliance, and best practices across the organization.

Donjeta's professional experience spans legal practice, non-governmental organizations, education, and advocacy. She has participated in numerous international seminars, professional trainings, and leadership programs focused on human rights, governance, and public administration. Her commitment to academic and professional excellence has been recognized through scholarships awarded by both the University of Prishtina and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

From an early age, Donjeta demonstrated a passion for leadership and civic engagement, serving as Vice President of the LDK Youth Forum (Fushë Kosovë Branch) and later as President of Lëvizja Rilindja during her high school years. Today, she continues her dedication to human rights advocacy through volunteer work with Amnesty International.

Fluent in Albanian, Spanish, and English, with working knowledge of Italian, Donjeta brings a valuable multilingual and cross-cultural perspective to her work. Her analytical mindset, research expertise, and strategic approach make her an integral part of the organization's success, ensuring that initiatives, partnerships, governance practices, and advocacy efforts are thoughtfully developed and effectively implemented.

Alongside her professional and volunteer commitments, Donjeta is a devoted mother of three young daughters and remains committed to advancing human rights, public policy, and meaningful community impact through both her leadership and service.
